Motor selection follows gate type and weight. A hinged gate needs a swing operator sized to the panel weight and arc length. A slide gate needs an operator rated for the gate’s mass and the daily cycle count. Control board compatibility determines which keypad entry, remote receiver, and safety sensor options are available, not every board supports every access control type.
Rural acreage properties often have limited grid power at the gate post, so power supply assessment is a required step before wiring begins. Battery backup sized to the motor’s draw keeps the system running through outages. Final testing covers the full open-and-close cycle, safety sensor response, and manual release function, confirming the gate opens by hand when power is unavailable.
