Every install starts with a site assessment: the installer measures the opening width, checks the slope and surface, confirms available power and cell signal, and selects the gate type that fits the approach. A steep or uneven driveway may rule out a swing configuration entirely, pointing toward a cantilever slide or vertical-lift setup instead. Gate weight, daily cycle count, and distance from the house all feed into motor and control board selection before any hardware is ordered.
Groundwork comes next. Posts are set, conduit is trenched from the power source to the operator location, and the gate hardware, hinges and arms for a swing gate, wheel carriages and counterbalance tail for a cantilever slide, is mounted and aligned. For off-grid sites, the solar array and deep-cycle battery are positioned and wired into the charge controller at this stage. Photo eye sensors and safety edges are installed on the gate posts as part of the standard scope, not as an afterthought.
With the gate hanging and the wiring complete, the installer mounts the gate motor, pairs the remote controls and keypad, and sets the open and close travel limits so the operator stops at the correct position every cycle. A cellular access controller is configured at this stage for sites running on cell signal alone. The final step is a full open-and-close cycle test: the installer runs the gate through multiple cycles, confirms the photo eyes and safety edges respond correctly, and demonstrates the manual release so the entrance can be opened by hand during a power outage or fire evacuation.
