Wildfire-Resistant Fabrication Questions

Many Foothills fire districts require gates on private roads used as evacuation corridors to be remotely releasable or unlocked. The specific rule depends on your district. The installer checks those requirements during the site assessment so the finished gate is compliant before handover.

A combustible gate can ignite from ember cast that arrives well before the fire front. Once it burns, the opening may be blocked by debris, or the post hardware may fail. Replacing it before fire season removes that ignition point from your defensible space perimeter.

A standard battery backup typically covers dozens of open-and-close cycles over one to two days. A solar array paired with a deep-cycle battery reserve extends that window significantly, important on mountain properties that may lose grid power for several days after a major fire event.

Yes, but it needs to be tested and clearly marked before an emergency. The release is demonstrated at handover. A release that is corroded, hidden, or requires a key defeats the purpose. It is confirmed accessible and tool-free during the final walkthrough.

A cantilever slide gate has no ground track to obstruct or fill with debris, and it does not require clearance on either side to swing open. On a long driveway with limited turnaround space, that makes it faster to clear during an evacuation.

Cellular access control works wherever a cellular signal reaches the gate, no broadband or Wi-Fi required at the entrance. The installer checks signal strength at the site before specifying the hardware.
